Security & Fraud Prevention
Stay Protected, Bank Securely
Your financial security is our highest priority. Learn how to recognize scams, safeguard your credentials, and protect your accounts against fraud.
The Ikere MFB Security Pledge
Ikere Microfinance Bank will never call, email, or message you to ask for your online banking password, ATM PIN, debit card CVV, or One-Time Password (OTP).
4 Golden Rules of Account Safety
Follow these essential guidelines every time you bank online, at an ATM, or in a store.
Never Share Your OTP
One-Time Passwords (OTPs) sent to your phone are confidential keys to your money. Never read or forward an OTP to anyone, including bank staff.
Keep Your ATM PIN Secret
Never write down your 4-digit card PIN or share it. Memorize it and shield the keypad when using ATMs or POS terminals in stores.
Beware of Urgent Phone Calls
Scammers often impersonate bank staff claiming your account is blocked. Hang up immediately and dial our official line directly.
Ignore Fake BVN or NIN Warnings
We will never threaten account suspension via SMS or WhatsApp asking you to click an unverified link or send identity numbers.
Recognizing Common Scams
Cybercriminals deploy deceptive techniques. Here is how to identify and neutralize them.
Phishing SMS & WhatsApp Links
Fraudsters send text messages claiming your account is frozen or you won a prize. They include links to fake websites designed to steal login credentials.
What to do: Never click unverified links. Official Ikere MFB communications come directly through verified channels.
Fake Customer Care Accounts
Cybercriminals create parody social media handles offering instant help. They ask for debit card numbers, expiration dates, and 3-digit CVVs.
What to do: Always verify handle authenticity. Ikere MFB staff will never ask for your card CVV or PIN.
Impersonation of CBN / NDIC / EFCC
Scammers claim to be government regulators demanding immediate verification fee transfers or remote access to your device.
What to do: Neither regulators nor Ikere MFB will ever ask you to transfer funds to a private individual account.
